What now and Elderberry Syrup

Hello my wandering friends! I hope everyone has had some amazing adventures since my last post. Yes, I know it has been a while. So, what now for A Wandering Hippie (me)? Well, here goes…. at the end of August I retired from my 22 year career as a public school teacher. Yes, I know WOW! I am still teaching. I mean come on it is in my blood. Lol! I do teach for VIPKID in the mornings. This is amazing. I truly love it. (If you have any questions about that just let me know.) I also have been getting back to what I love….NATURE. Not just nature, but, everything herbs, homemade, and homesteading. These things have always been a passion of mine. However, I never had enough time to really dig into it and let others know what I have learned and found. With that said, you will be seeing more posts on things like this. Also, I am trying my hand at the whole YouTube thing. We shall see…..

Now, on to the making of the Elderberry Syrup. Before that I have to let you know…..

***I am not a Doctor or a licensed Herbalist. This is just what I use for my family and myself and how I use it. You have to do your own research. I also take no responsibility for what you do..****

Okay, now back to the good stuff….Elderberry Syrup.

You will need the following:

*1/2 cup to 1 cup dried elderberries (I get mine from mountainroseherbs.com)

*3 cups water

*1 cup raw honey

*Put your elderberries and water into a saucepan and bring them to a boil. Then simmer for 30 minutes.

Next put berries into a strainer lined with cheesecloth and mash berries to get all the juice out.

Stir in honey and pour into a jar. Your syrup will last up to 3 months in the refrigerator.

Recommended Dosage:

Child: 1 tsp. daily

Adults: 1 Tbsp. daily

(Hourly if sick!)

That is it! Easy right! I will be making some Elderberry tincture when I get some more elderberries. Tincture does not have to be kept in the icebox. It also lasts a lot longer. I am also editing the video that goes along with this blog post. I will post the link as soon as it is loaded. Well till next time… Happy Wandering my Friends and God Bless!
